Encouraging quotes that see me through... I would wish addiction's experiences on no one, yet its perspective on everyone. I'm a quote guy. I read them and write them down to ponder later. Sometimes I come up with my own entirely. Other times I tweak someone else's (like the one above). Go ahead and share your own. Sixty days today, if I did the math right. |
"The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom " I think it was William Blake. |
"No one succeeds without effort... Those who succeed owe their success to perseverance." --Ramana Maharshi Oh, and thumbs up on 60 days. Nice work. |
one that has seen me through many difficult times 'this too will pass' or 'this will also change' 'treat others, as you would like yourself be treated' or just be kind, relax. |

And I love the Suziki quote. I think Dee's simple wisdom sums up most relapses, certainly mine. |

I'm glad I came here with my whopping 24 hours sober today, because I'm a quote person and these are great! I'm going to write a few down and tape them up around my house. Thanks all. |
"When your pain is worse than your fear, you will change" I have made many changes in my life over the years, simply by asking myself "Is the pain of my situation, worse than my fear of change?" I have left jobs, relationships, situations etc. all by realizing, that my pain of dealing with it was worse than my fear of change. (that is harder to realize than you might imagine) Of course my signature line is also a favorite, no is perfect, we all have a chance at a better life. |
“I’m not going to drink today, even if my ass falls off” From a sober YouTuber that I listened to in the first few weeks of my recovery. Sounds trite but it had a huge impact on me. One year, eight months. |

You are so much more than the worst thing you've ever done. GREG BOYLE I think this is someone's tag line on the forum but I can't recall who uses it. Anyway at least to me it's another gem. |
