I could not agree more. The medical profession have been trying for a long time to medically bring about such a change. It is well documented that controlled use of psychodelic drugs have sometimes brought on the requisite change. Bill Wilson experimented with LSD and a recent peer revue indicated that a single dose may have been beneficial. Jordon Peterson also refers to mystical experiences of the LSD type being of value in treating drug addiction but as yet, none have come up with a reliable solution.
You could also consider what the outcome might look like. For me a psychic change resulted in an ability to deal with and participate in life in much the same way as any other human being - able to experience fully the ups and downs, joys and tragedies, successes and failures that life brings. That to me is a good outcome.
In the medical sense it is also possible to experience a kind of palliative care model where one takes a medication so suppress the symptoms/ bad feelings or reactions. The trouble with this approach is that one cannot suppress the bad without also suppressing the good so, I am told, one tends to feel not much of anything. That would not be a good outcome for me.

So the challenge remains to bring on a significant change that results in a net benefit, i.e. a big improvement in quality of life. I am always open to ideas on how that can be accomplished.

If I'm offered a drink, I just say, no thanks, I don't drink. And if pressed, I just say, I used to drink, that's why I don't drink anymore. And if I'm still pressed about it, I just ask them, does it bother you that I don't drink? And that usually shuts them up for good.

Hey Mamatembo,
Did you get your results back? Just to say I quit alcohol 74 days ago and I definitely experienced nausea, some dizziness and really just generally feeling under the weather - I didn't go to the doctor (probably should have done, you're more sensible than me!) but I'm no longer experiencing those symptoms - I also had (while I was still drinking) liver pain which was starting to worry me - this has also disappeared, it would appear the liver is a strong organ! Hope things are going well.

Hi Billy.

I did get the results back and everything looks normal! Also, I'm feeling better every day!

Congrats on 74 days! I'm 40 today. Thank God.

That's great news!!! Take that as a gift and never go back. We never know if the next relapse is the last.
