20 Weeks sober...
Twenty weeks today. The longest I’ve gone without booze by far in the
last seven years. Just the other day it was one week, and then one month, then
two, and, and… Now I’m 140 days sober and just six weeks away from half a year.
I know its early days – like I’ve said many times before – and I know it will
be “early days” for a long time to come. In the meantime, to the guys reading
this thread who are just starting on their own road to sobriety, I want to say:
It’s toughest right there in the beginning, but after a while it gets
easier with each day. Just count each one (day), because the more you have, the
harder it gets to give them up.

Hi, Hawk. I hope you are well. The bootleg booze never came through,
no. But they have found another “bootlegger”; this guy sells cheap stuff with a
low alcohol content in boxes of 12 x 100ml bottles. Brandy, Gin, etc. Only
thing is, it’s an “Aperitif”, 30% alcohol and very sweet, supposedly an
appetite booster. Sort of a cocktail/liqueur, I think. So now they’re drinking Aperitif
brandy and coke.
They went almost a week without booze before “sourcing” this guy. I
think it’s only the knowledge that they would soon be able to drink like they
used to, that stopped them from going into withdrawal.
I’m só happy not to be in that boat any more, I really am…

It is such a relief to not have to worry about supplying oneself with booze.
I remember when I was drinking heavily I always had to have a stash and Plan B as I lived in the country and didn't want to drive. It was scary to me if I was low or running out.
I was such a slave to booze for awhile. Freedom feels good even if we are locked down.
Take care RB and keep on truckin' the sober days. One day you wake up and realize that you see yourself as more a sober person than a drinker any longer.That is an amazing feeling which may hit you sooner than later
