7 Years Sober - Part Deux
7 Years Sober - Part Deux
I celebrated 7 years of sobriety yesterday (April 17th). The reason for the "part deux" is that this is my second time to reach 7 years of sobriety. The first time didn't end too well as I ended up relapsing for 8 miserable years. This time around I have not taken my sobriety for granted and I'm grateful for every day of my sobriety.
Unfortunately "celebrating" was not exactly what I was doing yesterday (I slept most of the day). I'm still struggling with health issues that started a few months ago. I'm basically waiting for the lockdown to end before I continue trying to get to the bottom of what's going on with my doctors. I thought I had it figured out a couple of months ago but my symptoms came back in mid March and I've just been "managing" them the best I can for the last month. I have a sneaking suspicion what may be the problem, and the first specialist I am going to see when I get the chance is my cardiologist/surgeon to hopefully prove my suspicions wrong.
Anyway...this is probably not going to win any awards for the most uplifting celebration post ever made at SR. But on a more positive note, alcohol has not entered my mind one time as an option despite feeling poorly for most of 2020. I give FULL credit for that to my Higher Power and the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Congrats, Grungehead, on your 7 years!!!
I can relate to your post, in that, many years ago I relapsed just a month shy of 6 years sober. I then drank for another 22 years
I am now sober again, 5 1/2 years but I am really looking forward to celebrating 6 years!
I hope your health issue gets resolved soon

I usually enjoy reading your posts; what you do and what you have to say.
I'm sad to read about your medical problem and hope your health returns.
You've helped a lot of people. Including the people who are happy to celebrate for you.
