Got my bloods back

Doctor was amazed at how good they were! Kidney function is perfect, vitamin b is spot on. My gamma GT is slightly raised but better than it has been for years. Cholesterol is the lowest it has been in 10 years. Physically I’m great, it’s just a shame I’m such a mental wreck! Can’t have it all I suppose.

I went through therapy not too long ago, and the first couple sessions all my therapist talked about was my physical condition and breathing. A sound mind in a sound body--you're off to a great start!

That is great news. In my outpatient group, we had several long term boozers (me included) that had great anxiety awaiting medical exams and blood work. After decades of drinking, we'd think "This is probably not going to turn out well".
There's that fear you've done too much damage and completely corroded your insides.
It really is a blessing and a great wonder when you discover the body's capacity to protect itself, and heal itself.
Congratulations! Continue healing!

Maybe your body is setting such a great example that your mind is liable to join in the fun and straighten up some.

That's so great softdrinks!! I was terrified to get my tests and somehow didn't get into cirrhosis. Things indeed normalized except for one thing we monitor every six months.

Keep going sober - all of it gets better.

The thing is even with test results my default setting is there is something seriously wrong with me. Hopefully, this will get better with more sober time

Don't let your great test results lull you in to thinking, "maybe I don't really have a drinking problem after all."

No I’ve definitely got a drink problem, just one drink sends me mentally down a manhole.

Keep reminding your self that. I once was sober for 5 and 1/2 years and somehow thought I was cured and could order a beer in a restaurant. That one beer led me to struggle getting sober again for an entire year.
