Advice please.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice for a long term heavy drinker wanting to get sober.
My auntie has finally decided she wants to attend meetings with me and get sober.

My question is, what kind of medication will she need to stop the seizures and side effects of quitting alcohol?
She's been drinking near enough a 70cl bottle of vodka a day for a very long time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Good question for a doctor. Take her to see one.

Thanks for a reply and yes, totally agree. My main concern is in between now and seeing a doctor.
I'm also looking for advice from someone who has been through a similar situation.

We're not allowed (by forum rules) to give that kind of advice here. This rule is logical. See a doctor.

It is a fact that alcohol withdrawal can kill you. My great grandfather died of alcohol withdrawal (called delirium tremens) while IN THE HOSPITAL . Look it up. She must see a doctor ASAP

Yes! Take her to her doctor before she stops drinking. I hope she can get safely thru withdrawal and learn to live a sober life.

This is a question best left to a Doctor to answer.
