So glad I didn't drink yesterday or today

No hangover, no feeling guilty about health or wasting money or not spending time with my family because I'm hungover/getting pissed. I need to hold onto this feeling

You can do this. It’s just a long, long process of getting used to not having the drunk feeling.

At this point I’ve given myself total permission to return to drinking: and I don’t want it. You can get to the point where it just seems like a gross thing to do to yourself.

Keep going!

I'm going to keep trying for as long as I possibly can. I want to completely change my views on alcohol and have that be a solid foundation to build my sobriety on... if that makes sense??

hi scaredikklegoth,
i find myself wondering what you mean by “as long as i can”. why would there come a point when you “can’t”, and what would that look like?
if it is some condition you are putting on ongoing sobriety (such as “unless s, b,t or k happens”), then look at that . from there, you can work on changing some more views and have a better shot at this solid foundation.

That's great progress. I was so relieved to be free of it - no more cleaning up messes I'd made & feeling guilty. Every day you'll gain strength.

Well done! It’s amazing how just feeling good, or at least “normal”, can change your outlook on drinking.

I like the quote “one good decision leads to another”. One day of not drinking can lead to another.
