Please stay on the Sober bus - pt.33
Another Thursday on the sober bus. So grateful to be here. I've been having thoughts lately about how nice it would be to have a drink. When I'm thinking about it, I'm only seeing one drink. But we really know, it would never be just one. I remind myself that I'd loose everything I've worked on over the last three years. I'd quickly go from socking away money and carefully planning what to spend it on to being penniless and searching jacket pockets for spare change.
Yes, being on the sober bus is sooo much better that being on the drunken roller coaster.

We have almost the same time under the hood you and me.
I can tell you I'm going through some AV waves just like you since a few weeks.
They pop out of nowhere and the ones in my dreams are really destabilizing lately...
We're like a family on this Sober Bus
I'm with you on this journey
This is indeed a difficult stretch of the year. January through March can be somewhat of a grind to endure, especially for you folks whom have been dealing with real winters.
Dragon, you correctly realize that there is no "one" with us. It would be opening Pandora's Box once again. I tried to moderate my drinking for years, only having one or two a night. It was torture, like trying to eat one or two potato chips. I know that if I foolishly decide to drink, it will not be just one. I will get a bottle of rum, a bottle of Chardonnay, and a case of beer and it will be off to the race to the bottom once again. Life sober is not always easy, and it is easy to think that a drink would provide a quick and welcome short term attitude adjustment, but once you think it through a bit, you realize how foolhardy it would be. We have all worked to stabilize our jobs, finances, families, and ourselves over the past months and years. We are actively winning a battle over a serious brain disease, one day at a time. There will never be a time that we are "cured." It will always be a live grenade in our brains, sitting there, waiting for us to foolishly pull the pin one day.
Dragon and CK, thanks for pointing out that you folks are experiencing these thoughts. Once we consciously hold them to the light, we can see them for what they really are.
Remember we punch our ticket for the sober bus one day at a time!

Climbing aboard. I'm on a business trip right (Scotland) now so pushed for time but that primed grenade description was spot on stargazer. There is no such thing as one drink for us.
Dragon, yes I have watched some of those Jay Leno car shows, he is really enthusiastic and quite modern in his thinking. I like them.

I hope mood has changed on this Friday for you Dragon.
These obsessions always fade away over time.
The time needed is really short now for me, under 10 seconds most of the time.
Have a good day Buskateers

Here to punch my ticket! I can relate to the drinking thoughts too.....I try to associate the AV with something like hearing from an ex for a booty call....Ewww!

Thanks for the shares everyone. I'm grateful that they are not full out cravings, just fleeting thoughts that I've give a little too much head space too.
Hope it's not too cold for your Kilt Sao. Last night I watched an episode where Jay took his tank car out for a ride. A custom built hot rod with a tank engine in it. Something like 1600 horsepower under the hood.

I'm on the bus this morning.
Thank you for all the love and support on this thread. You all are fantastic!
I have my ARF shift this afternoon. It's only 2-3 hours, but when I'm done I feel like I've done a full shift, but it's great and I love it. Who would have thought you could get so much satisfaction from doing laundry for dogs and cats (lots) and knowing you are contributing. I am also grateful for the really cool people there, some not so much, but we ignore them.

Sao, laughing about the kilt comment! It seemed cold to me for anything short there. I've never been and I always wanted to see the wild, rocky landscape, but I think I'd have to actually buy a winter coat! and long underware! The pictures I've seen, it sure looks beautiful. ♥♥♥
