Facial blemishes since quitting

Today is day 5 of not drinking and something I've noticed since quitting is I'm breaking out with all sorts of blemishes on my face since quitting. Did anyone else experience this after giving up drinking?

It's kind of embarrassing and thinking about getting cream to use on my face, don't know what kind would be the best and actually work to clear my face.

Not to worry, just toxins leaving the body, and what a great thing that is! It will clear up shortly.

It is not unusual for this to happen. Toxins are leaving your system and this is one way it is manifested. It will pass. You can try a cream or such, but I would just be sure to keep my face clean with good old soap and water.

Congrats on five days!

Thanks nez and suki, I'll save money and not bother with cream. Hope it passes soon!

I got some big pimples in various places near glands, arm pit, inner thighs, neck .... I just put it down to the same thing the other posters did and yeah, gone in a few weeks, never come back 😃

Absolutely. I constantly have bad skin from the on/off drinking habits I have.

I definitely get this too when I quit. But, I do indeed use a face wash. Nothing crazy just something like an anti acne Neutrogena that you find in the drug store. Regular soap is too drying and strips the skin, for me at least.

Yeah, big time. On the back of my neck and shoulders. Also had breakouts on my biceps as well. I'm just shy of three weeks sober and it sky rocketed in the past few days.

You are just a few days in and frankly, pretty much anything you are going thru is affected by the alcohol exiting your body. it prob took me 2 days to be literally sober, and much longer for alcohol to roll out of my body head to toe.

Things WILL get so much better, just don't set expectations that it will be now, or essentially right away. Keep going.

I think the consumption of lots of fluids cannot be overstated. I drink lots of water and seltzer, take a multi-vitamin every morning plus psyllium husk caps a few times a day. I spent well over a decade abusing my body and mind with hard liquor. Its not gonna flush out in a day.

^^^I drink water nonstop thru the day. My glass gets refilled when half full, no joke. Either regular or my fave sparkling w lime.

Fuits and vegs often have a high water content too.

Bananas are your friend, and cheap too. I can make a banana smoothie taste like a McDonalds chocolate milkshake.... and way healthier!

^^Potassium is something us alcoholics are often depleted in, and it is essential for our bodies - and can be fatal when we lose too much. I eat a banana almost every day, often as a first mini-breakfast around an hour after I get up.
