Reading
I think it’s so important to my sobriety to read at least 1/2 hour a day something about addiction/alcoholism/recovery, etc. And I completely attribute my sobriety to SR plus a hell of a lot of hard work.
At times, however, reading the back and forth gets a bit draining. Similarly, at times starting yet another recovery memoir or “addiction explained” book gets old.
I just stumbled upon a website called The Fix. Had a ton of great articles/blog entries/whatever-you-want-to-call-them. It was a refreshing change. I just wanted to pass it on to anyone on SR who might be interested.
188 days today. Thank GOD.

“Addiction gets harder and harder and ends in death. Sobriety is hard work too. But it gets easier and easier and ends in life.” – Andy Ziegler
“Expectations do not always line up with reality. In reality, it takes years for an addiction to take hold. The healing process takes equally as long. The negative thinking and behavioral patterns didn’t set in overnight, and won’t be lifted overnight. It’s like turning a battleship. We let go and reprogram gradually, a little bit each day, and that happens by making daily decisions that lead us down the road of self-love and health.”
congrats on 188 days SoHard

For me reading all kinds of stuff was an important part of my recovery. Everything from the Big Book to a wide variety of stuff from bookstores and Amazon.
I didn't agree with the 90 meetings in 90 days concept that several people suggested, between career and family responsibilities I didn't have that kind of time. Spending an hour or two a day reading in early recovery was much more valuable for me.
