The red solo cup

Not sure what this has to do in recovery but I'll post anyway. So the red solo cup was my M O for years. Had it with me everywhere. I always carried it with me full of whiskey while walking downtown to bars. Going to friends houses In the car. Yes I drank and drove. Constantly had my little cup of courage and trusting companion in my hand. Never forgetting it.
let's fast forward over 6 years of sobriety. My live in love and beautiful new lady in life was shopping with me at the big box store recently and I said, hey were out of cups. I'm reaching out to get some and she's says, don't you think it's time to change cups. Maybe clear or foam cups? After all I've been drinking water for years from these things. So I had to stop and think. Maybe it's time to let go. And I did. It was not difficult. Just strange. 6 and a half years later folks. I'm still changing habits. That's how powerful the disease is. Its on a subconscious level. Perhaps it's neverending? I'm just going to keep trying, I hope you do the same!

Not sure what my lesson is to learn from your
Red Solo Cup Share, Wayne. Maybe there is none.

See, I never used solo cups in the past, but I do
love red. Red in just about everything. Flowers,
clothes....a car in Maroon yrs ago that was as close
to a red car I may ever own. Red roof shingles on
our home. A pretty red bench that is waiting to be
assembled, and so much more.

About 10 yrs ago, I spotted those tall drink cups
that come in a variety of colors and chose the red
one and grabbed a several to make sure if anything
happened to one, id have a back up.

Anyway....I use the red plastic "party cup " as a vessel
to hold my tall white foam cups I fill with water and
bring with me everywhere I go. Riding in the car, outside
and next to me on a table while watching tv and posting on
my laptop to you guys,

A white foam cup in a red plastic cup. And that's
the way it works for me.

6 plus yrs sobriety is an amazing accomplishment. Going
thru small or even large changes in recovery isn't always
easy, but when done, we feel the growth within ourselves.

A personal achievement you are experiencing now
and even more of them the longer you remain sober
and living a your life in recovery.

Good job Wayne....!!!!

Go to the home goods store and buy yourself a nice tall covered glass tumbler with a straw in it. If the straw is plastic (likely), buy some steel straws to replace it. You'll love it, the environment will love it, your pocketbook will love it.
