Gratitude for AA

Hey all,

463 days sober today. I am so grateful for sobriety and the 12 steps and the program of AA. It has saved my life. I held onto the idea that one day I could control my drinking.....as soon as that idea was smashed recovery could begin. So glad for forums like these. I haven't been on here in a while but glad to be back. God bless you all!!!

Congratulations. I am around the same mark as you too and I agree with you, the idea that I can ever take a drink again had to be completely smashed out of me and ahhhhh. The relief to stop fighting, accept, surrender and begin recovering is just amazing. I know now that I am alcoholic, I have such a severe allergy to alcohol that I may as well drink a glass of poison than a glass of wine.

Well done again and thanks for sharing

Im not on the 12 steps, but I am getting help. But I do need to start practicing gratitude in general, I am starting to feel it since my 42 days sober where as before I felt nothing whilst drinking.

Great idea for a thread.

I'm certainly grateful for AA and the 12 steps.

I would be dead without them.
