5 years and 11 months tomorrow
Going on vacation tomorrow. Doing things instead of sitting in a hotel bar getting drunk. Can't wait to actually enjoy what I'm seeing and have energy to actually do something. Way too many wasted vacations in the past. Not this time. This is my monthly reminder to myself to stay sober. Next month it will be six years.
And big congrats on your sober time!

Yes spending money to go to a nice vacation area and then just get drunk? We go to the Outer Banks every year. After a couple of years of sober vacations there I realized how much of a waste it was to just drink myself under every day I was there. Now when I come home from vacation I am actually rested. Also, I can get up early and go to my favorite OBX AA meeting. It's called Turning Point. Even if you are not an AAer this one is a winner. YMMV.
