The lies we told ourselves when drinking....
I tried to tell myself that, even as my friends grew up and quit coming around the bars every night like I did.
Toward the end, it was just the bartender, other alcoholics and me.
It was quite a revelation to learn when I finally got sober that the whole world doesn't commence drinking every time the sun starts going down.

"You don't have a problem, you just like beer. Everyone has things that they like, this is no different."
I told myself this for years, and believed it for most of that time. It wasn't until the evidence started piling up that I even started to consider that it might not be true.

No-one notices - yeah, right!
I am not hurting anyone by drinking at home, alone - so ignoring parents is ok??
I will NOT buy vodka on the way home - but end up getting some anyway
It does not affect my work - it does, because today I bunked off
Interesting thread!
