My thought for today.

Just reminding myself and anyone else who is a recovering alcoholic. You can never EVER go back to controlled drinking. It will not work. It's a disease. It doesn't go away. You can never drink again. Period. Hands down. Never!!
And that's a good thing!
Good day all, stay sober!!

A good reminder Wayne - straightforward and to the point. Amazing how we can forget something so simple, isn't it?

That's true Scott. For me I need to stick to the basics and "keep it simple"
It's easy to get complacent with this disease. I never want to go back to that dark nightmare again. You,dee and heath and others here are people that remind me of how dangerous complacency can be. Thanks for being here scott.

For this alcoholic "controlled drinking" is an oxymoron.

And there is freedom in never again.

There is no freedom trying to control something which will never be controlled, you’ll spend a lifetime failing to do it.

Totally.

If I ever think positively of a drink, which I still do from time to time, I then think of the prison around when, if, how much, what did I do. That is what drinking is really about for me. That nips it in the bud. The control it takes over my life. The effort.

Not a nice glass of wine with dinner, or a g&t in the garden, not ever. And that is a good thing.

Thanks Wayne
