Some days, hard to practice gratitude
I'm really feeling negative today and finding it hard to be grateful in my sobriety. I want to put a few things out there that are kind of shallow but very real for me.
I'm not throwing up
I'm steady in my hands and legs
I have a roof over my head
I have eggs to make for breakfast
My child is healthy
I have tea to drink
I have a dog sleeping at my feet.
I need to get a lot done today that won't be easy for me but wanted to take a minute to see a few good things in my life.
Have a great day folks, there's always something to be grateful for if we're sober even when we're feeling down.

Those are GREAT things! I know how you are feeling - sometimes I make myself say 5 things I am grateful for out loud- small as they might be. The other day I had to do that a number of times to feel better
Keep going - glad you are sharing.

My sponsor would normally suggest that I
help someone. To do something for another
that would get me out of my own thinking,
worrying, self centerness.
When I began doing whatever it maybe,
then I would take the focus off myself and
put it on others.
Mine was baking for many meetings I
attended thru out the weeks or taking
on a small part time job to stay busy outside
my little family.
Customer service in a grocery store, picking
up baskets which I enjoyed because I could
exercise and also help those needing a hand
loading up their car with groceries.
I also helped a few in recovery that
appreciated having their home or apt.
cleaned a day out of the week. To be able
to transform their place into a clean,
organized home to return to from
work and know I could offer my help
to them was rewarding.
If you continue to read Im sure folks would
be happy to suggest what they do to help
others in their life that is rewarding.

It certainly is...
I certainly is and you've made some great points, thank you...in return for which, With my eleventh sober anniversary coming up on the 15th of next month I always think it's good to remember this Polish proverb. Whenever someone tries to drag you into their nonsense say to yourself and keep repeating it,'Not my circus. Not my monkeys.'

thats a good list. there where so many days i'd wake up just wanting to end it I'd shrug and think at least i'm sober. and that was simply the only thing i could find to be thankful for. You know tho in hindsite there was a lot more but in the thick of it thats all my mind could find so i clung to it.
