High blood pressure, alcoholism and sobriety

While I was drinking, mine was borderline hypertension, sometimes even higher. But it wasn't quite bad enough for great concern. After I quit, it was in normal range within a few weeks. Now, 5 years later, with a better diet and a little more exercise, it's really good. 98/66 at the dentist yesterday. I'm 56, with a history of high blood pressure in my family. They all drink.

Alcohol can really mess up a huge amount of normal bodily functions- heart rate, blood pressure, brain function, etc etc...it's something not to be messed around with- unfortunately I took that for granted for a long, long time..
