Checking in at 512 days

Just checking in. Still sober, still reading on SR every day and keeping my focus on sobriety. Life has thrown some ups and downs, and my tendency to overwork myself and then fall into exhausted depression is still there, but I'm trying to learn new strategies. I actually took a day off work last week and stayed home, resting. I've never done that before.
Felt 100% better the next day.
In the past, when I felt tired, I'd drink.
As a matter of fact, when going through daily life now, there are a lot of times I'll think, "In the past, I would've been drunk right now." Trick-or-Treating with my kids... college football games... cleaning the house... getting ready for bed. All those things.
Man, I was drunk all the time. But that was in the past. 512 days ago, to be specific.
xo to all of you!

Congrats on 512 days!

Me too. As a day drinker my evenings were just wiped from the whiteboard.

Now, I'm so fully present its startling sometimes but it's good, and no longer considering drinking as an option, and getting comfortable with being ever-present feels like a relief. You think you'll never stop wanting it or you'll never stop wanting the escape, yet at some point, this becomes the new norm. Thank goodness.
