How/where to find AA meetings?

Hi all, dumb question, but I believe I can't do this in my own. How can I find AA meetings near me? What if I bump into something ne I know?

You can go to aa.org and find a local group. At the top of the page is a "Find near you" link.

As far as seeing someone you know, they would be there for the same reason, yeah?

Did you find the list in your area? Open means it's for alcoholics and those with an interest in alcoholics, and closed means it's just for alcoholics.

Our parents, spouses, siblings, friends.

Open meetings are so they can listen to our shares and maybe understand us a little better.

Yes. One lady I know with 15 years of sobriety brings her teenage daughter to open meetings. She feels like part of the 'family ' and says she's learned a lot of life skills through it. Not so many teens do gratitude as a life tool, but she's got it off pat. Lol.

At the start I stuck to closed meetings out of fear. The longer I stay sober the less fearful I am about it.

Google your zip code and Alcoholics Anonymous. If you run into someone you know that's great. Maybe your next sponsor? Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of AA, so don't worry about gossip. We all take this seriously.
