Yay 8 months alcohol free

Hey guys
Almost scared to jinx myself posting this but im So happy today. I'm 8 months sober from booze and I think I now understand what everyone was talking about. I thought I understood before but I didn't.

I feel new and I have this weird feeling like I know I got this. Before I used to say I felt good about my soberity but deep down I was still struggling with accepting it and I could only focus on not drinking.
I feel like I'm seeing the bigger picture now and I love it! I think the word I'm looking for is contentment.

Now when I say I don't want to drink I believe it! I'm also feeling more in touch with my emotions. This really is the best gift it's took 8 months to get here but it's worth all the fighting and tears.

Away to go tend to my garden with a big silly smile on my face. Have a nice day everyone!

Nice! Such an achievement, these stories of success are great to read when early in sobriety.

Congratulations and onward

Super job on not drinking!

Respectfully - I think I recall this from another thread - are you still smoking pot? I ask out of concern and also because this has been a frequent topic around here and in my meetings IRL.

Yeah your right, Im on day 4 no weed, I'm ready to be completely free from all substsnces. My eyes are open to the fact that I haven't been true to my soberity.

guard it , you'll see , Alcohol was just a obstruction that was in your way, you are going to free up the road in front of you without it. You'll see , before you know it alot of small things changes and they add up to many big things ......
Imagine this.
You stopped drinking, something that is extremely hard for people like us....
You can do anything really, with effort and will power , Anything!!!!
Congrat!!!!

Well done Lpg and thanks for posting this. It’s helped me today. 4 weeks in and I’ve had an attack of the “I’m ok, I could drink and control it” today.

89 days sober as of today so that means 2 days until my 3 month milestone. I'm dealing with some paws feelings lately however having support like this forum and my AA group makes this bumpy ride a little smoother.

Thanks quit. Ive thought that way too before but that was just the AV telling me lies to get out. Deep down we know we can't control it. Stick in I promise that will settle. You got this!

I love this thank you! Anything really is possible when you work hard and stick to it. It's inspired me to think of goals iv wanted to achieve but never got round to, maybe now I can focus my energy into great things.
