and some days are down right beautiful.
Today I took my daughter out for a make over at this place called Ulta. It was a lot of fun and she got a bunch of girlie stuff. After that, we got lunch and ice cream and we had a blast. She actually talked to me.
Then we went and got her a new chain and a bunch of charms for it.
I got ALL of them on with zero issues. I remember trying to do this right before I got clean and I ended up ruining her charms and the chain and I yelled at her and made her cry.
This time...2 years later...She looked at my hands when I was doing it this time. She was smiling....no shaking, no tremors, no fidgeting or sweating like I had been up for days.
I got a big hug and I got a HUGE sense of pride. Got a bit teary if you wanna know the truth.

The kids always know.
I had to laugh a little at "she actually talked to me.". Raising kids sure teaches you that you have to let them be when they don't want to talk (especially if everything seems ok), and when they do? It's like Christmas! Haha.
There's your example right there for why you stay sober when you have an awful day, better days are often right around the corner, and they are so incredible when you actually feel them.

150 days
I'm 150 days sober. I have such a sense of pride when I say this!
Yesterday we went to our 7 year old granddaughters birthday party. It was a small party, just cake and presents because the big party will be Saturday with all her friends. The other set of grandparents showed up sloppy drunk. It made me sad for them and my son in law. I'm so thankful for my sobriety. I have my thoughts and cravings every once in awhile still but when I see a drunk or tipsy person it sure does help my resolve to stay sober. I couldn't have done this without SR.
