"The Recovering"
I posted this in the Book Club, but it's important enough, IMHO, to post here:
I'm a pretty relentless reader, and rarely do I feel so gobsmacked by a book as "The Recovering" by Leslie Jamison.
Seriously, try it: It's a beautifully written book that goes beyond the author's memoir of her own alcoholism (which is fantastic, and speaks to me so accurately I sometimes feel like she's in my head) by including tons of research and recaps of other facets of the alcoholic's experience.
Ahhhhhh.... I LOVE it. Had to share.
Just shy of 11 months and going strong. Love and gratitude to you all.

Only problem is I like physical paper books...old school...and I don't want to wait for it!!
I have issues with delayed gratification, I think. 😉
Congrats.
I liked much of the book but found a lot of it to be a bit self-indulgent and ponderous - not surprising for a book written by an alcohol addict!
Glad you find it helpful though. Whatever works, says me.
