Celebrated 24 Years In Recovery on 4-9-2018
Hi, I don't come on this forum much these days. I am a recovering alcoholic AND drug addict. On Monday, April 9, 2018 I celebrated 24 years of continuous recovery (different than being "sober").
I am a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous, and I attend meetings every week, have been for the past 24 years after being released from inpatient treatment. Hello out there to all with more or less time in RECOVERY than I have, and may God carry you forward to the end of today and onward.
If you are having doubts about making it in recovery, and not just being "clean and sober", you can do it, and you will have a better life for working a recovery program every day. You get this many years of recovery by face to face contact with other persons in recovery, not by sitting at a computer or a phone and posting/reading online. For me that means I am active in the Twelve Step Program (AA and CA). We are social animals and we need daily contact with other humans, so get out there and make some friends and stay in contact with them, and most of all be transparent about how you are feeling, don't hold it inside.
Best wishes to the moderators and all others here.
Mike
