did I relapse?
I have been sober for a month and 3 days and it's been real easy this time around but my boyfriend drinks on the weekend today he came home with a polar pop full of beer and I took a big sip because I thought it was our favorite mountain dew but it was nasty warm beer will that still count as a relapse and also I'm still bloated when will the alcohol bloat go away?

So what!
So what if you did or didn't!You didn't continue to drink at all (unless it was Mountain Dew!) And, as a Real Alcoholic, baby...That's IMPRESSIVE.
And, with just 30+ days, you avoided what you could have used as 'The Perfect Excuse'.
I've used that one on myself plenty of times...and then I would say F.I., and go BIG!
You didn't. And you told others here, so that is amazing.
Congratulations. Continue to value your sobriety with that attitude.
And if you feel you need another White Chip? 'So What' to that, too! It doesn't matter!
Btw, I've collected so many of them I finally gave them all back (but one) at a meeting a few years ago.
There's no rules to your sobriety but one.
Don't drink.
And if we do? Don't Quit Quitting.
Hope that helps,
Dirk

I would not call that a relapse at all. You didn't know what it was, you took a sip, and immediately stopped. If anything, that is awesome. As Dirk said, that could have been an excuse to be off and running.
You didn't. You held on to your sobriety.
I was at a wedding once, and someone handed me a glass, told me it was sparkling cider. It was champagne. I was all kinds of pissed. This person didn't know I was in recovery, and thought that I should "loosen up" like everyone else. Idiot.

If you knew it was alcohol and took a sip then relapse.
If you didn't know it was alcohol and took a slip then no worries.
Pretty clear difference. If you spit or swallowed that's really no difference if you didn't process what it was at the time..
IMO...

Omg I really was disappointed at first It doesn't even seem like im trying to be sober anymore I just am I'm 28 years old and am so ready to never drink again I stay around alcoholics daily and they remind me why I never want to touch that poison again not even a drop of it thanks everyone for clearing that up I was just told if I drink again I'll have to count my recovery the next day so I'll be starting my sobriety day over but It was really a true accident and no I didn't spit it out I swallowed the warm unfizzed beer.... Yuck now I will never trust any liquid he brings in lol
