[QUOTE=Ken33xx;6779613]I was a functioning alcoholic for many years and it is unlikely I would have stopped drinking had this continued.
The functioning part stopped and my life began to unravel at an ever-increasing pace.
Yep. One day you just aren't highly functioning anymore. And very very soon after, you are barely functioning.

Barely to Zero
Yes, indeed.
Then, from 'Barely Functioning' to 'Zero Functioning' at 1000mph!
At least, that was my experience.
I tried the controlled drinking so many times, but I always got worse with anything BUT controol in a short period of time.
I also used to go to AA meetings and still had a marriage, six figure income, 4 cars...You know...
Now, 15 years later, all the 'Not Yets' came very true for this 'Real Alcoholic'.
But, it took what it took.
Now, I've put together a few years but I experienced a lot of heartache before it resonated.
Thanks so much,
Dirk
