Day 12 and emotions all over the place

First of all hi, first post.

I am on day 12 of not drinking and the most noticeable thing seems to be that my emotional state feels like it's a rollercoaster at the moment. Sometimes feel like I could just burst into tears for no reason whatsoever.

Is this normal?

Thanks.

I got/get the same way. Don't know what 'normal' really is but, the brain is doing alot of re-wiring and the chemical healing can cause outbursts of emotion. Just let it out. Alot of changes are going on in your body and mind.

Hey welcome.

Very normal I think I cried at every little thing for a good few weeks. It gets easier once things level out. Keep up the hard work it's worth it.

Welcome Sherlock! Having a variety of emotions is quite common in early recovery. I'm on Day 16 (after a lengthy relapse) and currently feeling gloomy for no particular reason, though I could probably conjure up reasons to be gloomy. LOL. Hang in there. We can do this.

Welcome, sherlockholmes2!

Perfectly normal, I went through many emotions during early recovery.

Quite normal.

I had a few crying bouts early on, myself. We keep ourselves numb when we abuse alcohol the way alcoholics do. Not only do we keep out the bad feelings, but the good ones, too.

Time and working on yourself will bring healing, and you can't speed it up.

I described early sobriety as similar to 24/7 PMS in a full moon.
