Just back from AA
What a great meeting today. I wish there was another one tonight. I’m back to day 1 and could use all the help I can get.
I really need to stay sober this time, this is getting ridiculous.
I cannot handle the anxiety and guilt that comes with drinking, let alone the physical damage.
I love going to AA and getting support and everything but I can’t be there all the time so I need to find another way.
Who knew something that sounds so easy - quit drinking - would be so hard! I’m really trying and I’m hoping this is my last day one.

Well, you're heading in the right direction by going to a meeting. They saved my life.
Yes it can be hard to quit. I was drunk for thirty years and managed to do it, so I'm hoping you can, too.
Sometimes there is no softer, easier way to quit than to go to AA and work the steps.
The anxiety from drinking was just killing me mentally and the drinking was killing me physically.
We're all here for you. You can quit. Keep coming back.

Thank you. I was going to the meetings all the time and then I just stopped for so reason so obviously I fell off the wagon.
I’m back again today and I want to really get into the steps.
I signed up for a temporary online sponsor as well.

I went to a really good AA meeting today too.
It wasn't one of my normal meetings; I went to support the guy that was leading.
It was a full house - every chair in the place was taken and some people had to stand.
I feel at home at every meeting I go to - I have even gone to meetings out of town and I am treated like I am a regular. AA is an awesome fellowship.

howz about getting some phone numbers from the folks at the meetings?
idk where ya live, but i got sober in small town,mi. 4 meetings/wk. the next closest was a 52 mile round trip. once a week. the distances grew if i wanted to go to more meetings/wk.
i wanted what the program had to offer and was willing to go to any lengths to get it, so i did a lot of diving- sometimes 300+ miles/week just to meetings.
on top of 350 miles/wk to work and back.
also carpooled to meetings with other members from small town,mi. THA made for a meeting before the meeting, a meeting during, and a meeting after the meeting.

I also don’t have a car so that doesn’t make it easier to get to the meetings. The one I go to is a 15 minute walk so that is good.
Get a sponsor and get to work on the steps. The booze isn't our problem, it's in our head and we need a psychic change. The 12 steps clear up our past, expose our defects of character, humble us, give us new perspective, and somewhere while doing these actions we have a spiritual awakening.
Meetings are great to feel connected and let us know we aren't alone. Read chapters 2 and 3 over and over until it sinks in that you can NOT drink like a normal drinker. That thinking has to be smashed!!!
Don't ever give up, you can achieve it and you're worth it.

Definitely strike when the momentum high and keep it rolling.
At meetings if someone has what you want (i.e. peace of mind, calmness, spirituality, etc) then ask them to sponsor you. Its an honor to be a sponsor and it helps them to stay sober also.
you dont have to see the woman at meetings to call.
You are definitely pursuing the path of recovery which has worked very well for me for a pretty good while, now.
Keep us posted as to your progress and your travails.
Where I live I couldn't get to as many meetings as I'd have liked either.
If people have given you numbers then they mean to be available to you if you call or text them.
There is lots of AA literature you can use to immerse yourself in the program - and most of it is free to read online (goodgle AA big book online for a start)
There are also lots of AA speaker recodings available. These kept me going between meetings.... https://www.recoveryaudio.org/
Once we get a sponsor and start step work then we start AAing outside of meetings - using the program in our day to day life. Meetings are the tip of the iceberg - just one side of the triangle if you look. No point sitting on a stool and just using one leg. Thats never going to be comfortable or secure.
Plus, you have SR. And online AA meetings. You can do this. *hug*.
