Tomorrow is the big day

I am about 25 hours away from being alcohol-free for exactly one full year.

In two weeks I will be doing my first AA lead.

Today the weather is exactly as it was on my last day of drinking - gray and rainy. But last year I was anxious, panicky and dreaded living.

Today I feel good and have hope for the future. Things aren't completely wonderful and I still have some off moments but today I have the coping skills to deal with life without turning to alcohol to ease the pain.

A huge congratulations to you!!!!

That's great to hear Doug. I felt so much better after a year had gone by - I knew I could make it through all the tempting times. It's wonderful to be free.

I really felt it yesterday. I was so relaxed and content - I haven't felt that good in a long time.

I was a little on edge this morning but the weekends are always easier - but the on edge feelings were nothing compared to my drinking days.

A recovered alcoholic like myself always enjoys hearing good news like this.

The war is over -- now we keep it that way.

Congratulations

I started daily drinking in 1989.

I did manage 4 months sober in 2013.

But yeah, the last time I was sober for a year was in the 1980's.

Well done!
