I've known many who have died of alcoholism/drug addiction and I've know OF many many more.

I recently saw a person from AA at the grocery store who told me of a story just like this one. Relapse/dead.

Such a terrible sad thing. I hope every person on this site reads this thread.

Sometimes it seems the body can hold out longer before quitting. I've heard several stories like this. It's almost like we just can't handle the huge amounts of alcohol like we used to once it's been removed from the system for a period of time.

I guess it rings true that each relapse gets worse until a person finally stops or succumbs to it

BullDog-Just lost my best friend (age 58) of 35 years to alcohol. I get your anger. I have been angry with her for several years.

Made me think of CarolD's old post about her "dead friends" from years back.

Sobering.
