The historic flood excuse.

After the Texas floods , I check into a hotel, slipped into a drinking binge for over a month, back to Day 4.

Glad you made it back. So, what's the plan to stay sober next time something bad happens?

Thanks all , I was several years clean b/4 T/S storm Allison floods in 2001' relapsed for a while ,, and was doing good b/4 Harvey in 2017 , I have to learn how to overcome losing everything 'again' to something I cannot control , I am glad to be on these boards with you guys , has really helped, drinking can make any situation worse , Last week I admitted to myself I don't want it anymore.

Stay sober man. That month you put yourself through was pure hell. Don't drink anymore. I'm really sorry about the flood and your loss. It sucks. Not worth dying over for sure. Stay with us. You know it gets better with time.

Life will always throw us curve balls, some bigger than others. Recovery is easy during the good times, it's the bad times that test us, yet in the end make us even stronger. I wish you the best.

Drinking over a storm is akin to using "it's Tuesday" as an excuse. There is no good reason but lots of excuses. When I drank I would have said I drank for some reason. In the end, I drank because I'm an alcoholic. So glad you put down drink, keep checking in here for support.

Welcome back Bullmas,

Illegal or not, drinking or not, I was born an alcoholic and would have found something for my condition.

Hopefully you don't have to face anymore storms in your future. And if you do, I hope you have a good plan to come out unscathed next time.
Good luck
