craving a drink
I've been sober almost 4 month and a stressful event recently happened and I'm unable to sleep. My AV is telling me to have a drink to calm my nerves but I know It'll lead me back to square one and that I'll feel much worse tomorrow but I'm not going to give in to it. I know I'm stronger than that.

yeah if you drink you can add that to your list of problems. thats what i always say to myself. I might have 1 problem now if i drink i'll have at least 2 problems and heck i dont need any more problems!!
that temptation can be tough. I remind myself that if i wanna tango with the bottle i wont win the bottle always wins and i always loose that game. its easier to toss my hands in the air and go oh well nothing i can do.
Also thinking about something your greatful for can help too.

" My AV is telling me to have a drink"
Mine does that too, and sometimes more subtly , the main thing is to keep the separation between IT and you . IT always wants a drink, that is what it does and all IT does, but that's ok IT can want all it wants, never means YOU have to indulge IT.
There are alot of ways to relax and relieve stress, IT will always point to just one.
YOU got this, YOU Are stronger than IT.

Good for you to log onto SR. I'm getting stressed at work too. Lying in bed mulling over the events of the day isn't the solution. There are better ways to relieve stress. Even getting up and reading is better than struggling to sleep.
Good for you for not listening to the lies Doubter
Worrying about stuff never seemed to make much difference to the outcome, in my experience.
hope you can relax and get some quality sleep again soon.
