Good to see you are trying.
Suggestions...
try AA again. Learn the steps and use them.
Don't try to quit for ever, just stop for the day.
When you wake tomorrow, start tomorrow with the same understanding...
Just for today I won't drink.
and the best suggestion is one you are already useing....
Don't stop trying to quit. Sober is better for sure.
You can do it and as your sober time has showed, you know you can.
Just need continue to not pick up that first one.
One day at a time really does work.

There are many options of recovery. Check out our Links forum for 12 step alternatives. Maybe you just weren't ready for AA and it wouldn't hurt to give it another go. In the meantime hang out here, you'll find a great deal of support.

thanks for the suggestions
Hello Paragonlost--Welcome to SR! Glad you are here. I would suggest, like others, that you give AA another try. Have you got a sponsor or started working the steps? AA has been an absolute life-saver for me. Hang in there!

Hi and welcome! It is very tough to quit drinking. We get into the insane cycle that repeats and repeats. That is what you are describing. I have been there. Just don't quit trying. Be open and honest to suggestions. Be willing get involved in a program of recovery, give it time and a fair chance to work. If AA did not appeal to you, there are alternatives like Chy mentioned. Keep posting, and learn all you can!

Hi, paragon!
Here are some of the alternative recovery programs, compared in brief summary form:
http://www.rrci.net/recovery_spectrum.htm
A few questions might be helpful....
What works when you do quit?
Why do you decide to quit?
Why do you think you start drinking again?
What insights did the counselor(s) give you?
What do you like about alcohol? What do you dislike about it?
Talk to you soon,
Don S
