Wine at BABY SHOWER

I have to complain a little. I was offered wine at a baby shower today. I didn't even think there would be alcohol served. Not to be judgy, but when did people start drinking at baby showers?

It seems like nowadays people just drink to celebrate anything. Wine people are the worst....it's like that whole hipster movement. Put a wine glass in their hand and now their cultured. UGH.

I remember wine at 'play dates'! The mothers would sit and drink while the children played. So, I guess a 'baby shower' isn't all that surprising.

Yes, you will find alcohol in a lot of different places. And you will notice it even more once you have quit of course, but good job on saying no. You will get more used to it as you build sober time and it won't bother you as much either.

It's not a statement or judgment on you. Nor is it probably anything else than the hostess thinking people might enjoy wine with lunch or light snacks. A polite no would have been plenty(if you said something ) - and perhaps just a good heads up that alcohol is going to pop up anywhere.

In January I put together an afternoon tea for little girls and their moms. My tenant suggested that if I served champagne she would definitely have some!

I opted not to....

I've been invited to co-ed wedding and baby showers before and they all served wine.

I was one of those hipster wine people. I went through several thousand dollars of amazing wine on my last bender.
