advice on staying sober

Can anyone recommend routine on staying sober, it seems to be easier for me to stick to my word to begin with but over time i somehow forget the very reasons why i cant drink ending up in alcohol slowly making its way back into my life. I know theres always going o be challenges i will face. Im trying not to be too hard on myself this is the first time ive been blackout drunk since april but still i cant help but feel ashamed of throwing all my good work out the window. any advice greatly appreciated.

I always come to SR and read. If I think of drinking my mind automatically plays a tape of what would happen if I drank and the thought doesn't last very long.

I too used SR. I got into a routine of posting here daily whether I 'needed' to or not..

Give enough good advice to others and it's bound to rub off

This is my routine which is never upheld perfectly and rarely done as self righteously as it reads.......

Perseverance is hard for people like us

Ask God to keep me sober today
Morning prayer and meditation
Communicate daily with other alcoholics (SR, et al)
Attend meetings
Help others/Share
Pause when agitated
Take spot check inventory during the day as needed
Review my day in the evening and make amends when I harm someone
Evening gratitude celebration and meditation
Thank God for keeping me sober, today

I follow the same simple way of living as Flynbuy. Before I was able to do that, however, I had to take a good look at myself and clear up my past mistakes where possible. I found I could not go directly to "Go" and collect the $200.00 without doing the groundwork.

1 Don't Drink
2-et al everything and anything else you do or don't do as long as it doesn't go against #1, you'll be surprised how much easier 2-et al are when #1 is followed

the first 3 months I went to meeting after meeting after meeting (AA). Sometimes 3-4 in a day. I was not working so my routine was, wake up, call my sponsor, go to meetings all day, eat something, brush my teeth, go to bed. There's no real secret....you just don't drink NO MATTER WHAT.

Playing the tape forward is a very effective tool. Also the night before, you can write out what you will be doing the entire day and stick with it. Starting to attend meetings also will be very beneficial, and to reach out for help on here or AA when the "bad" thoughts come around.

I attend meetings, listen to speaker tapes, and read recovery literature.
