100% proof vodka is 100% proof vodka.
No need to go high end with the price.
Occasionally I would buy the cheapest whiskey and mix it with coke.
I never liked the taste of alcohol. I drank to get loaded pure and simple.

When ABF would run out of booze or couldn't walk to the store he drank liters of mouthwash, along with cans of hairspray, aftershave, perfume, Vicks vapor liquid that we used for our humidifier, Axe body spray, red wine vinegar, all my baking extracts, hand sanitizing gel, and probably some other stuff I can't recall. Shocked the hell out of me the first time I witnessed coming home to my perfume bottles smashed and the house reeking of vomit mixed with any of the above. And every bender usually includes this behavior. To this day it's been the most shocking thing I've ever witnessed. (Even more than the time I was mugged at gun point). Some things just shock you more than you could ever prepare for.

Mostly light beer (so I could put down a ton without filling up) and whiskey. Occasionally bought expensive brands of scotch, really just depended on whatever whim hit me at the moment.
A disgusting lifestyle, so glad to be past it.

Bonus week: Blended scotches and Irish whiskys. Jameson, Cutty Sark, etc.
Normal week: Evan Williams or Ezra Brooks bourbon.
Poor weeks: whatever Canadian swill was on sale!! Usually by the handle.
I did get into some of the mid-shelf vodkas when I *thought* I was keeping a low profile. Never really got into wine, but did enjoy the occasional bottle of Port Sherry. Never cared for rum, gin or tequila. Wasn't my thing.

A fifth (750ml) of Black and White or J&B Scotch a day. EVERY day. In a beer-glass with water and ice. Half the bottle, starting when I got up in the morning until my afternoon nap; the other half when I got up - again - until sleep time at night. Supplemented with beer when I ran out - which was often. And I was still functioning - floating, but not "out of it"... Not proud of it. Just what it was...

Absolut vodka. It's more expensive and a little fancier than cheaper vodkas so my alcoholic mind tried rationalizing that drinking it was better than drinking cheap stuff. Also comes in lots of flavors that hide that awful alcohol taste
I was drinking Jamison but I started to have to purchase alcohol by the pint my last couple of years drinking because I'd drink as much as I bought. A pint of Jamison was 10 and a pint of Windsor was 6 or 7 so Windsor it was.
