I phoned my doctor yesterday hoping to see someone but I could only get over the phone appointment. They prescribed me valium to try and keep me calm, only a short course until I feel better but I'm not sure if it would be stupid to take them, Ive used them before last year and they did stop me having any alcohol for 2 weeks but I don't know if they just masked my problems? Any advice? Also the doctor knows about my drinking but I never said I think I have a problem she just knows I drink to blackout stage.

I think you really need to express your concerns with your Doctor lpg.

People can share their personal experiences but it would be irresponsible of us to try and give you medical advice about whether to take them or not....

It's not a silly question so I wouldn't take it that way.. please keep posting.. when you do get in to see your doctor be totally honest with him or her and tell them what's going on!
