I don't think you can replace drinking with nothing and succeed. I went to AA and it worked.

Well, I made it through that bump I guess. 11 days sober according to my bank statement records. Thought it's been longer. So, the wheel continues to turn. On we go

You aren't bed ridden, You aren't in prison, meaning you have the freedom to go where you want, do whatever you want. No excuse to be bored.

More than half the people in the world grind it out from sun up to sun set just to live and would love the luxury of being bored. You're just trying to grind through another night sober. Count your blessings and find something to do.

Poor me, poor me, pour me another drink.........
I went through this yesterday - at least the first two. The thought of the third came and went pretty quickly. I was in the middle of poor me while picking up a few items at the grocery store. A guy I recognized from the rooms but don't his story walked over to me; He asked me - where do I know you from? (smell of alcohol wafted towards me.)

We took some "classes" together - said. After looking puzzled for a minute he said - Oh, I get it!

How are you I asked
Drunk as a skunk, he replied.........

In that moment I was pulled from my pour me ideations. Did NOT want to be that guy again. It was like looking in the mirror - stumbling around the store at 6:00pm, bumping into neighbors - thinking they had no idea I was drunk.

Getting through those moments of boredom, self pity, fear, anxiety etc are the links ......we build the sober chain out of. We can Always choose to drink. I just can't unchoose if I did........

They say resentments are our number one offender, I think boredom ranks pretty high up there. Get a plan fh and get busy. Time will pass quick. New habits will develop. The boredom will disappear. Trust me.

I'm really glad you made it this far. Take it one day at a time.

There's always stuff to do.
Pick up a instrument.
Paint the walls.
Vacuum the rug.
Go for a run.
Take up birdwatching.
The list is pretty endless.

Yeah, there's stuff to do, but I mean some sort of passion. Painting the wall doesn't send a thrill up my leg

I worked on my car today changing out some fluids. It wasn't really exciting either but I didn't want to pay to have it done. I also played a couple hours of videos games. I even drove to Walmart but they stopped the 24 hour open times so I had to turn around at midnight.

You are not going to get that euphoric high like we did with alcohol during every day activities. The point of this whole sobriety game is to forget those artificial feelings.

You get to live a more balanced life sober and do task that better your life even if they are boring. You'll start to look healthier too which could lead to some excitement in your life if you know what I mean! And you get to stay out of here for alcohol related offenses.

I know there are are endless possibilities, it's the motivation that eludes me. Depression I suppose.

One thing I have learned is that without putting something in place of the alcohol I will either pick up or go crazy.

I've settled on simply improving my diet and feeling OK about feeling bored. That's doing something. Hardest thing in the world to sit, just with self.

I've decided to keep the friends that pray for me not the one's that use me. How can I give up the bar life the last 4.3 years I drank alone except four times no more then 8 I'm sure. How can I give up porn and not even masturbate and sex why because she's out there and I'm going to practice what I want from a women in my own life. How can I give up poker I've studied it for 16 years there all selfish alcoholics are selfish and self centered. Think how good you got it living in America the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. A hole world of new life lies ahead lower self wants the old life Higher Self wants the New Life the Ying and the Yang Live in Harmony not destruction.
