8 Month Milestone
I would never have thought. At 70 years old and after enjoying my evening bourbon for for 45 years I have quit drinking. Do I miss my drinks? Yes but not near enough to turn back. I have found great replacements...more time for my hobby, exercise, better eating habits, actually being able to go places in the evening! and enjoying the people I have met on SR. Thanks SR for all your help.

Congrats. I always get inspired by stories of people that got sober late in life. It shows that it is never to late.
Yesterday at an AA meeting the lead was a guy who was 69 years old. He started drinking at age 14, went to AA for the first time at age 21 and then was in and out of AA 8 times over the course of 40 years. His longest stretch of sobriety was 14 years.
At age 59 he picked up again, had 2 strokes and hurt his back. His doctor prescribed him Percocet in which he abused. At age 60 he couldn't buy enough pills so he shot heroin for the first time in his life.
He finally got sober at age 62 and now has 7 years sobriety. It is never to late to clean up.
