I'm not following, are you saying you think SR substitutes for an IOP? I wouldn't agree with that at all. SR might substitute for a community support group, though - not everyone needs local face-to-face support, and online support has grown a lot in recent years.

But in any case, whatever works is what you should do. If that's an IOP, great, if it's AA or Smart, great, if it's all of the above, maybe even greater.

I am saying that just like people who went to treatment and attend recovery groups will often be inclined to recommend the same treatment to other people in their recovery group, people on SR will often be inclined to recommend the avenue that they took.
