The Movie

Yesterday, I sat in my living room with my family for 2 hours and watched a movie from start to finish without getting up once.

To most people this would not be a big deal.

But over the years when I was drinking I never could do this. I would have to stop the movie every 15 minutes to get another beer or fix another drink. Not to mention stopping the movie several times to go to the bathroom.

I can't even imagine the number of movies I never finished because I passed out or I was too drunk to comprehend it.

It feels good to be living in the real world rather than in a drunken haze.

For me, I enjoy a movie, meal, game or whatever for it is now.
In the past, it was an excuse to drink.
I would get angry when people ordered dessert as it delayed leaving the restaurant and getting to the pub!!

I am actually re-watching my favorite movies. Somehow I don't remember the ends of them!!

My thing was always to drink before a meal and try to get as drunk as I could before I ate because I knew that once I ate I would start to lose my buzz and/or want to pass out.

This made for a lot of late dinners!!

After I got sober, I noticed all these movies on Netflix that I apparenlty started but never finished. More than half of them I had no recollection of whatsoever.

Exactly! Watching a movie and remembering how it ended was actually a new concept to me after my drinking days. Beats having to rewatch the same thing several times.
