I was sober for a long time, and then had a baby daughter yesterday, which caused me to go into an emotional tailspin and I drank. Onwards and upwards, I have stopped drinking and am posting here to hold myself accountable

It's a very emotional experience I feel guilty that it hit me so hard given I didn't actually give birth! But staying sober is the most important thing now

Yes, it's probably one of the most emotional experiences one will ever go through in their lives. It's pretty witnessing the essence of life itself, really - but it's a wonderful new beginning. What kind of support network did you use in your previous sober time - do you think maybe adding to it would help?

Our addiction will use anything - good bad or indifferent - to get its fix.
A brand new baby daughter is a heck of a good reason to stay sober, IMO.
