Drive sober or get pulled over

This goes without saying. I'm almost certain every state will be beefing up patrols over Christmas and New Year's
Please designate a driver don't drive drunk and become a statistic

More police are out on the roads as traffic enforcement efforts are beefed up for the holidays. The “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or get pulled over” campaigns will again target drivers not buckled up or driving drunk. Illinois State Police Captain David Byrd says it’s all hands on deck to help prevent traffic fatalities thru the end of the year.
Enforcement efforts include roadside safety checks, seat belt enforcement zones and special speed and DUI details.

Thanks for the reminder Captain! The sad thing is that even with all the extra patrols and reminders, there will be people that are alive today that will be dead after the holidays. Some of them won't even be drinking but will be killed at the hands off someone who is. Anything that can be done to keep that to a minimum is a good thing.
Around here people die almost every weekend due to drunk driving, it's sad that the holidays have to show an increase.

One of the best things about being sober is the freedom to be able to drive 24/7 without the fear of a DUI.
I live in northeast Ohio and we have DUI checkpoints regularly. I rarely drove drunk the last 10 or 15 years because of the fear of getting busted.

I hope with time that we as humans get these stats down but I must admit I am doubtful as there will always be some (people still get arrested for a variety of drunken behaviour Inc drink driving even in countries where alcohol is illegal) i can only hope that nothing bad or worse happens as a result of it

Now that you mentioned it. Went out at 1:00 P.M. to pick up some final Christmas diner stuff. Cop followed me for about a mile then sped up and passed me. Last Christmas I would have been scared sh#tless, today, just smiled, had nothing to worry about. Sure was a good feeling

In be the DD as well, and my husband will complain that I drive like a grandma, to which I just smile. If he wanted to drive he could have stayed sober! Cheers to me and my granny driving skills, I like to be aware of the others on the road, who may not have been smart enough to have a DD.

Illinois is no joke on DUIs.... spoken from past experience.
Stay safe out there! I plan on stopping by the local bars within 2 miles after midnight to see if anyone needs a safe ride home. I live in a small town, lots of police, and not much in the way of cabs or Uber.. since I have a large 8 passenger SUV, I don't mind taking a group to their homes safely. It's my way of giving back and protecting other innocent drivers on the road, who at one point, I had betrayed their trust myself.
