We're all in this thing together. I wouldn't be here if getting sober wasn't so great!

I know in my mind that drinking at this point would be the death of me. But of course when I am feeling good I still think how having a drink could make me feel even better. That is the old me thinking.

Last night my wife and I went to a friend's house that just bought a house. Champagne was opened and everyone (minus me) partook in a congratulatory toast to her new home.

I was asked twice if I wanted any champagne and said I was 58 days sober. I felt left out and I just wanted to leave. I felt bad but I would have felt worse if I drank.

Can confirm. I wouldn't have almost 4 years sober time if I hadn't done it a few times. I think it has made cravings not even appear in the first place because my mind knows it going to get a post on SR and not a drink anyway.

Being proactive in our recovery is always a good idea. Just about every time I went back to drinking it was primarily because I thought I was "better" and didn't need my support network anymore.
