Embrace sobriety Embrace sobriety, It's a gift. It's life. It's nothing to fear. Sobriety is nothing to fear. Give it time. For myself it took about 9 months when I finally realized that sobriety was going to stay with me. I hit bottom from day one. But I still had to deal with life on life's terms. I think there is a line you cross after a certain length of sobriety that we all must cross in order to fully understand that alcoholism can be dealt with and beat. But you must give it time. I read the struggles newcomers have here. All I can say is, embrace sobriety and give it a chance. One mourning you will wake up and ask yourself, why was I ever afraid of this? |
I don't know. After 27 years of daily drinking I am today 33 days sober and I am not struggling at all. I real want this (sobriety) and feel so much better. I will not go back to drinking. |
That's great Doug. Sounds like you Finely hit bottom. I think that's imperative to quiting drinking. 33 days is a great start. Keep going. And never give in. Never. |

My depression and anxiety was unbearable when I didn't have alcohol in my system...then it got to the point that even the alcohol wouldn't stop the depression and anxiety. |
Great reminder Wayne. I too feel we need to never forget how fortunate we are to be sober. |
I think eventually alcohol stops working for us. Then it turns into this slow killing machine that robs you of everything. |
