I am not sure I am posting this in the correct forum. Mod's please move if so.

I have been watching TED talks and came across this one today.
It resonates with me as to how individuals in society are becoming more personally isolated; and has become a global affliction.
There is clearly a link between addiction and disconnection.
Your thoughts?

Thanks for that StormiNormi. Mostly my position too.

A wiser man than me considered that addiction may be the modern word for sin, sin meaning disconnection (from god?) and/or the people around us. "Worship of other things" is rife, from status, retail therapy, acquisition of material goods, promotions, qualifications, ways of thinking, the mighty intellect, our way of life is better than yours, and on it goes.

Yet personal achievements can be somewhat hollow. I did well at work, got promoted, but found I was still me. I did ok in business, in charge of my own destiny, but I was still me. I set my boat up for off shore voyages, but I was still me.

The hole in my soul could not be filled with personal achievement or personal power, or getting my own way on my terms. I discovered this in sobriety, a sober search for true meaning in life.

Wherever I go, there go I.
