Me too Aussie...as far as the heat... Would any of the things I mentioned having done help at all?
I know the storms are a problem for you...
A bit of a life saver, was I had a cold shower before bed, then soak your shirt in cold water... Preferably a sleeveless one... And wring it out, wear it and get in bed right in front of a fan to help you fall asleep.

We put air con in the bedroom last summer , but the whirring noise it makes keeps me awake. My husband tends to turn it off through the night. I have gotten up through the night to take a cold shower , it helps for a while, also I take a wet flannel to bed to sponge myself when it gets to bad.
I want to be in that sunflowery field! I had SAD for many years and got meds for it. When I quit drinking a year and some months ago I went off the meds. I take vitamin D and got a light and made it ok through last year. I'm convinced though that a large part of my depression was the effects of drinking. Still, I'm doing the light and vitamin d thing to keep the blues at bay. It's hard in New England. The long winter can really beat you down so you gotta fight it back.

That is a BEAUTIFUL picture sleepie, thank you!
Yes I suffer from SAD too, I always have as far as I can remember.
I am always so cold in the winter since I've been an adult too. It is really hard for me to warm up.
I take Wellbutrin which is helping overall with SAD and general depression.
I also get very run down almost every winter. I have had a bad immune system all my life, so when I get sick, I tend to stay sick a long time, and sometimes I get very horribly sick.
Of course, I don't think about it when I'm not sick and it causes me no anxiety.
My low mood is usually only noticeable to me when the sun comes out for a few days and I feel lighter and cheerier than normal.
I think winter and Christmas time are so pretty. Fresh snow. I like rain too- as long as I don't have to go out in it. I like to stay in my house when it's cold.
But I really, really like sunshine and warmth.

I live near the middle of the north American continent. The winter days are very short. I don't know if it's so much a depression thing but I drive to work in the dark, and I drive home from work in the dark, and all I want to do is go to bed but it' only 5:00 in the afternoon!!
We were talking about this last night at dinner and I joked about installing UV flood lights all around the outside of the house.

Funny you posted pics of flowers and yesterday I went out and got myself flowers. I find that having flowers in my house often lifts my spirits. I feel a little guilty about the expense, but I try to tell myself it's not extravagant if it's something that helps my mental health. I'm still spending a lot less than when I was wasting lots of money on booze (and the pretend dinners that were the excuse for drinking).

I love the winter and the snow. I find it as beautiful as summer here in Colorado. However I do not like the holidays. People drinking heavy all around at holiday parties, the insane amount of ads in the media for alcohol. It's scary for me sometimes and it bothers me. We definetly need to strengthen our recovery programs during these times.

I also find holidays difficult, the mad consumerism is so devoid of meaning.
But I LOVE X-mas music... and the decorations.. and the snow (if we get any this year) and I also adore cool/cold weather and X-mas lights omg I adore it all...

I live in the PNW but get seriously depressed with the changing light in Fall, so I go to the tropics for the winter months. Plenty of rain here too, lol.. but it's warm. My knee arthritis also completely disappears. That said, I'm kinda missing those storms...
