As drinking movies go, my favorite is probably The Verdict. The great Paul Newman, written by David Mamet, directed by Sydney Lumet. A testament to man's ability to regain lost personal integrity.

"Flight" and "When a Man Loves a Woman" both had a big impact on me.

Thanks everyone, I've got some more movies to watch now! I have not seen any of the suggested titles so this is great.

Another vote for Flight. Good movie and I am a Denzel fan.

Another vote for "Days of Wine and Roses."

It is shown every year at our local AA convention.

I like that I can watch movies with drinking and partying in them and not feel anything? Kind of tangential to the topic but still lol

So I guess this is a little different but without sobriety my spiritual flame was extinguished. Recently watched documentary about George Harrison done by Martin Scorsese - incredible. Harrison was an amazing individual
effecting so many in a positive way.

Hard to find the light stumbling blindly in the dark.

I have only gotten half way through it yet but so far, Saint Vincent, staring Bill Murray, is a good alcohol suppressant movie. Especially the opening sequence.

I watched "When A Man Loves a Woman" years ago - back when it was just my mom who was the alcoholic in our family. It was painful then; I hadn't thought of it in ages til this thread. I wonder what I'd feel now. Hmm.

"Mommie Dearest" - disturbing on So. Many. Levels. And very relatable for me, too, as the child. *Shudder*

"The Hangover" - seriously, the tooth thing. It's a funny movie but it just takes dumb sh*t I did when drunk to a whole other level.

28 Days really irritated me. Maybe that's just because I find Sandra Bullock irritating.

I am going to watch "The Verdict" and also "Drunks" (I love the cast!) - looking forward to both.

This is a great thread. I second "Amy." Also, oldie but goodie, "Streetcar Named Desire."
