after heavy drinking ( which was near daily) I felt that I was always in an out of body experience. I would be moving through my day but somehow felt disconnected from, well, everything! Since being sober, the fog has lifted but as someone mentioned, I also am so much more loving and caring towards my body. I went a few weeks ago for my first EVER eye exam and afterwards the doctor said she couldnt believe I was functioning with such poor vision!
So, no wonder I felt disconnected from the world and my body and everything around me...
I was not only hungover ( severely) but I was blind as a freaking bat! LMAO!

Oh, also, my full body psoriasis has COMPLETELY cleared up since I stopped boozin it up. What a blessing!

Everyone looks so much more present in the after shots.

Yes... the eyes...the eyes are different. Like you can see the inner peace shining out.

Umm in addition to the bloating and looking tired all the time, sometimes I would forget basic hygiene.

Like plucking my eyebrows.

So embarrassing.

Definitely the eyes! In all the before photos, their eyes look so despairing. Such a lovely light in the after photos.

Flutter, sobriety has been really good to you. You look beautiful!

I had the worst ruddy, puffy face. And my skin was so dry. I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror! Much better now.

Great thread.

I'm told I don't look my age (65), maybe cause I smile a lot more now that I'm sober. I'm much happier too and have been told that I look happy.

This thread has me thinking: my AW says she "looks like an alcoholic" all the time but I never thought there was a specific look to someone who suffers from alcoholism. I can definitely see the change in these pics, but as far as I'm concerned my AW is still beautiful, even if her habit makes her terrible to be around.

My dad noticed my hair looked shinier and less dry after I got sober, and both my husband and I have lost a ton of weight over the past 11+ months. I lost over 35lb, which is a lot considering I also have a thyroid condition! Like everyone else, I lost the facial puffiness. I also no longer feel like **** when I work out. In fact, working out feels so easy now! I didn't realize during that bad year of drinking how hard I was making it for myself until I stopped over-drinking and started running again and felt like I could fly. Anyway, long story short the weight loss was the biggest change for me. It's really changed my life for the better.
