Drinking rash

Hi guys,

I'm 35 and been a heavy drinker for years, I used to drink nearly every night but over the last few years have cut down to 3-4 nights a week.
In the last couple of years I've started getting a rash or facial flushing after drinking for several nights in a row, this never used to happen even when I drank every night. The symptons are very similar to 'Asian flush' even though I'm not Asian at all. I have been using anti reflux tablets to stop the rash if I drink for more than 3 days , they do work to a degree but If
I've had a blood test and everything came back completely normal,
My DR said it's just your liver not keeping up. If that was the case I would have thought the rest would have showed something.

Has anyone else experienced this?

May not be what you want to hear but listen to the Dr- and probably it is a good time to quit. Having a normal blood test is a gift for those of us who are/were drinkers- now's the time to run with it.

Hi and welcome Stretch :)

Can't say I experienced anything like that but from what you say there seems to have a strong causal link with alcohol, and if your Doc is telling you your livers struggling to keep up,. it's probably time to think about quitting?

Please listen to your doctor. Your body is giving you a warning sign.

Lots of good advice here and from your doctor, quitting drinking is most likely the best solution.

Yup. Experienced that. Had all kinds of remedies that didn't work well.
You know the cure. I knew it too. I just couldn't see sobriety as anything remotely satisfying...
I was wrong. It turned out to be the best thing that I ever did for myself.
Give up the drinking. Say goodbye to the side effects.

The redness is perhaps related to what alcohol does to our capillaries.

I am not sure what you are drinking, but for me; i would get a very uncomfortable rash on my chest when drinking red wine.
When I asked the Dr. He said I had an allergy to the tanins in the wine. He advised me to quit drinking it.

My face would flush and be redder in general the more I consumed and I think it had to do with increased blood pressure in my case. That and the fact alcohol can irritate and dehydrate your skin, etc.
