OMG! 9132 Days
 

Today I am sober 25 years, which seems unreal. That's 9132 days.

The irony is my disease is doing push-ups. Yesterday I had surgery (the third in six weeks) and was prescribed Percocet. The label said "one or two every four hours". First thought that popped into my head: if I can have two, why not four?" By way of background, my primary addiction is booze, not drugs.

So I called my sponsor and told her my thoughts and took one pill. This morning she walked me through pouring 28 pills into the toilet. I admit I did feel a bit sad. So I do respect this "cunning, baffling and powerful" disease.

I'm so grateful to be alive. If it weren't for the support of AA I wouldn't be.

Seriously, congrats on a QUARTER CENTURY!!!

great milestone 25 years is great. If there is no need for pain pills after a surgery then throw them out, but if prescribed by a doctor and one is in pain it is OK to take the meds as prescribed and not lose your sobriety date.
I have been going to meetings for 25 years and have heard people give bad advice about pain meds.
